Litigation Software as a New Litigation Paralegal
We will break down the paralegal technology skills into three categories of software: administration, matter management, and practice-specific applications. As a new litigation paralegal, it is not expected that you will have mastered all of these technologies. However, it is a good idea for you to be familiar with what the different technologies can do at various stages of a litigation case.
Note: We are not listing any specific names of these software providers because we do not endorse one over another. Also, the one we recommend today might be obsolete if you’re reading this post six months after it was written.
You can Google the type of software using the word legal or law firm in front of it to find lists of recommended software technology. For example, use the search terms: “Law firm billing software” to get the most up-to-date results.

Should You Get Training On All Of These Software Tools?
Before you run out and buy a bunch of paralegal courses on these various types of technology, keep in mind that most law firms provide training for paralegals on the specific technology that the firm uses.
It’s great if you already have experience using the same technology that the firm uses in that practice area. Still, most hiring managers also know that learning their particular application will not be difficult for you if you already know how to use similar software.
